About Nebula Slider

The sliding puzzle has an amusing mathematical quirk: one arrangement in two is unsolvable. Our generator only produces solvable grids, by shuffling backwards from the finished state.

Three sizes are available: 3×3 to warm up, 4×4 for the classic fifteen-tile version, 5×5 for a proper sitting.

How to play

  1. Click a tile next to the gap to slide it across.
  2. Put the tiles back in ascending order, gap last.
  3. The move counter is your score.
  4. No clock: take as long as you need.

Three ways to get better

  • Solve the first row completely, then never touch it again.
  • Finish each row with its last two tiles together, never separately.
  • At the end only a 2×2 square is left — rotate it until it lands.
